After the success of the Baby Milestone cards, I found these hilarious Mummy Milestones on Instagram. These funny cards celebrate those real life milestones that new mums achieve after having a baby. I caught up with Angeline the maker behind the brand to find more!
Who is the face behind the brand?
Angeline, 32, from London
How did Mummy Milestones start?
I started Mummy Milestones when I was on maternity leave. I would spend hours on end feeding my son, so ended spending a lot of time on Facebook and Instagram. Being in my early 30s, I was at an age when a lot of people around me were having children. I noticed that my feeds on social media were full of pics of these lovely babies with milestone cards marking achievements like "I smiled for the first time" or "I ate my first meal". I came to the realisation that I missed seeing pictures of my friends, and so we needed our own versions of these cards so that we could celebrate our own achievements, regardless of how ridiculous or mundane!
A picture of Angeline defacing one of the sons milestone cards! Where do you get your inspiration from?
The main aim of Mummy Milestones has been to be humorous whilst showing the honest side of motherhood. I get my inspiration from real life - because nothing is funnier!
We love following you on Instagram, who are your current favourite Instagram accounts that you're following?
I try to follow people who make me smile rather than celebs who post pictures of their fabulous holidays, as it just makes me jealous! I love @celestebarber and her hilarious takes on celeb photos and @candicebraithwaite for a bit of daily honesty and positivity on her instagram stories.
As a mum who also has another job working in the NHS, how do you manage it all?
Two words - winging it! In all seriousness, I have been a dietitian working in the NHS for 10 years now, so feel like I've just about got my head around that. But motherhood and running my own business is still very new - but fun!
What is your favourite quote?
That's a tough one. It changes from time to time. But at the moment: "Parenthood, the scariest hood you'll ever go through"
What makes you happy and what do you do when you're not working?
Spending time with my family, and on rare occasions having a lie in!
What does a typical day Mummy Milestones look like?
As well as running Mummy Milestones, I work as an NHS dietitian. So 9 - 5 is spent in my day job, leaving the evenings to parcel up packs of milestones cards and greetings cards and do the day to day running of Mummy Milestones.
Are there any exciting new projects on the horizon for Mummy Milestones?
I've just launched a range of parenting greetings cards, and will hopefully be expanding the range further so watch this space!
We certainly will be, can't wait to see what else Angeline brings out - make sure you are following both of us on Instagram to stay updated!
